Exhaust Components

All exhaust coatings have been final cured during our coating processes; however, coatings will harden further on application with 2-3 initial heat cycles. For the most part, our coatings will withstand tightening of bolts with a spanner. If hand prints or fluids are spilled onto the coatings during installation, please clean with Acetone or a similar solvent degreaser before running the engine.

To clean, wash the exhausts when they are cold using standard 'car shampoo' and a soft sponge. Do not use a jet wash. To help protect our non-polished coatings further, a light application of ACF-50 or similar can be applied using a soft cloth. This will burnish into the coating and further aid the coating's natural non-stick properties to help with cleaning.

For our Cermakrome product

The finish remains a silver color and will only need minimal re-polishing over time. This can be done using 0000 grade wire wool and Autosol Metal polish. First, lightly buff in a circular motion using the wire wool and polish until the white paste turns into a black liquid, then buff similarly using clean, unused wire wool to reveal a new shine. Once there is only a small amount of dry powder remaining, wipe free of fingerprints and polishing debris using a soft cloth.

CAUTION: Excessive exhaust heat due to a poorly tuned engine can damage the coating during the cure period. Do not install on a new engine until all adjustments have been made to the valves, timing, and jetting. Allow the engine to idle or drive gently for approximately 30 minutes or until no vapor/smoke is given off by the coating. Maintain adequate ventilation during this process.

Engine Parts

Camcoat takes every care in their cleaning and coating processes. However, it is the responsibility of the customer or engine builder to ensure the coating components are completely clean before fitting to the engine. It is most important to ensure all ports, oil ways, and bolt holes are blown out, processed through an Ultrasonic Cleaning Tank, and that a pre-flush of engine oil is used prior to running the engine.

Where lubricant coatings have been applied to tight-fitting parts such as piston skirts, cam followers, valve stems, etc., it is up to the customer to ensure the correct running tolerance. If necessary, this can be achieved by buffing down the coating surface with green Scotch-Brite to give the required clearance.

Due to the porous nature of DFL-1, CCL, and TLML coatings, please install as soon as possible or store the coated parts in clean wet oil prior to installation. Not doing so can result in corrosion of the parts.
